around Somerford Keynes

Somerford Keynes is a small, quiet settlement, and much of what makes it worth a visit sits just beyond the village itself. Within a couple of miles you'll find eight places to visit, four spots to eat and drink, two activity providers, two places to stay, a handful of useful services and a shop, which is a good density for somewhere this modest in size. It suits an unhurried day rather than a rushed itinerary: water, walking paths and nature reserves are the main draw, with enough cafés and practical help nearby that you don't need to plan every hour in advance.

A good few hours might start at Cokes Pit Nature Reserve, where the paths reward a slow circuit and a pair of binoculars, before heading to Sandpool Farm Nature Reserve for a change of scenery. If you're with children, or simply fancy getting onto the water, Aquaventure is the obvious stop, and it's easy to build a morning or afternoon around it. Afterwards, the Dragonfly Cafe is a sensible place to sit down with something warm, and Ballihoo is worth knowing about for a longer, later meal.
