Cotswold Lakes Camping sits just outside Ewen village and works well as a base for exploring the Cotswold Water Park, whether you're arriving with a tent or a touring caravan.
The real draw here is the water itself. What you're looking at is over 150 lakes spread across the landscape—the result of old gravel quarries gradually filling with water over decades. If you're into water sports, you'll find plenty of scope for paddleboarding, kayaking, and sailing on the larger lakes, most of which are easily reached from the campsite. The terrain is appealingly flat too, making it ideal for cycling and walking if you'd rather stay on dry land. The network of paths connects different lakes and extends into the wider countryside. Birdwatchers tend to do well here, as the area attracts an impressive variety of species.
For supplies, meals, or a change of scenery, Cirencester is a short drive away and has excellent shops, restaurants, and genuine Roman heritage worth exploring. Kemble train station is conveniently positioned for getting around by rail. The nearby villages of South Cerney and Ashton Keynes each have their own character and local pubs if you want to venture out. Overall, it's a genuinely practical location for experiencing this particular corner of the Cotswolds, especially if you want to take full advantage of the distinctive water landscape.
