around Snowshill

Snowshill sits high on the western edge of the Cotswolds, a small village with steep lanes, long views and very little traffic, which is much of its appeal. It's the sort of place you come to slowly, on foot or by bike, rather than tick off in a hurry. Within about two miles you'll find eight places to visit, four spots to eat and drink, three shops and three places to stay, so a day here can be as full or as unhurried as you like. Come for an afternoon, or use one of the local B&Bs as a base for exploring the surrounding hills.

A good few hours might begin at Snowshill Lavender Farm, then take in the Kitchen Garden and Elder Court, all within easy reach of the village. Leave time for the National Trust shop and the Bookshop, both worth a browse whether or not you're buying. If you'd rather stretch the visit out, Sheepscombe House B & B puts you close enough to walk before breakfast, when the lanes and the views are at their quietest.
