Broadway Tower, a folly in the English county of Worcestershire. The "Saxon" tower was designed by James Wyatt in 1794 to resemble a mock castle, and built for Lady Coventry in 1799. Broadway Tower sits on the edge of the second highest point in the Cotswolds overlooking the village of Broadway and the Severn Vale. From the top of the tower, on a clear day, as many as 16 English counties can be identified.

This 18th-century tower crowns Broadway Hill, one of the highest points in the Cotswolds, offering something genuinely different from the usual manor experience.

Built from pale limestone in a distinctive hexagonal shape with corner turrets, it stands 65 feet tall at an elevation over 1,000 feet, so on clear days the views across the Cotswolds and well beyond really do justify the climb.

Inside, you'll find an actual museum rather than just an empty shell. You can work your way through the upper floor rooms and trace the tower's history as you go up. Two hours is usually enough to get a real sense of the place, though you won't feel rushed in that time. The surrounding Country Park extends things nicely with proper walking routes through the grounds, so pairing an hour or so indoors with a walk outside works particularly well.

Broadway village sits just below the tower, so getting there from town is straightforward. You'll find decent restaurants and shops there if you want to spend longer in the area. Chipping Campden and Moreton-in-Marsh are both within easy reach too. Worth noting: there are quite a few interior steps, so it's something to consider if stairs are difficult for you. The location feels genuinely elevated in every sense—both literally and in terms of what you see—without being remote or awkward to reach.
