Brookthorpe is a small place with a lot on its doorstep. It isn't somewhere you come for a high street or a day-long itinerary in the village itself, but as a base it works hard: within about two miles you'll find sixteen places to eat and drink, a dozen sites worth visiting, five spots for activities, three places to stay, along with a shop and a services stop. It suits visitors who want quiet lanes and easy reach of Gloucester, and who'd rather drive ten minutes to dinner than stay in the middle of town.
A good few hours here might begin at Pound Farm Shop, picking up something for later or stopping for a coffee before you head out. If the weather holds, a round at Gloucester Golf Club fills the middle of the day comfortably, and Grove Court is close enough to add on without much detour. Come evening, the Golden Star is the sort of place to settle in for a drink and a proper meal. If you're staying over, Hatton Court Hotel and Gloucester Robinswood Hotel both put you within a short drive of everything above.
