Edge is a small village on the western edge of the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire, where the limestone hills drop away towards the Vale of Evesham.

It's the sort of place that works well if you want to experience the region without the visitor traffic of its more famous neighbours.

The village itself is understated but appealing, built from the honey-coloured stone typical of the Cotswolds. There's a working church at its centre, and the surrounding countryside is excellent for walking. What makes the location particularly rewarding is how you're positioned between two distinct landscapes—you can look west across the vale while the rolling wolds rise behind you to the east.

Edge makes a good base for exploring this corner of Gloucestershire. Chepstow and Monmouth, both within reasonable distance, offer more substantial attractions including a castle and riverside walks. The Forest of Dean is accessible if you want a day trip for more serious woodland walking. For other Cotswolds villages, places like Symonds Yat and Cinderford are nearby.

The village is genuinely quieter than you might expect, and that's really the point. If you're after a peaceful place to stay while exploring the area, or you'd prefer to walk through actual working countryside rather than somewhere that feels staged for visitors, Edge delivers that straightforwardly. It's real Cotswolds rather than a curated version of it.
