Guiting Power sits in the quiet country between the Windrush valley and the high wolds, and it rewards visitors who aren't in a hurry. This is a small place, so the pleasures are unhurried ones: walking, a long lunch, a slow afternoon with no fixed plan. Within about two miles you'll find four places to eat and drink, three activities to fill a morning or afternoon, two places to stay and two more worth visiting, which is enough to shape a day without ever feeling that you need to drive far. It works equally well as a short stop on a wider Cotswolds trip or as a base for a weekend.
A good few hours might begin on foot, following a stretch of the Windrush Way out of the village and back, then settling in at the Farmer's Arms when you've earned it. If you'd rather range a little further, the Hollow Bottom and The Black Horse Inn are both close by, and golfers can book a round at Naunton Downs Golf Club. Stay over at Foxhill B&B and you'll have time for all of it.
