This small hamlet sits in the heart of the Cotswolds between Cheltenham and the Forest of Dean, making it an ideal base for exploring the wider region.

Aylworth is essentially a collection of stone cottages and working farms that have remained largely unchanged for centuries, giving you a genuine sense of rural Cotswold life rather than a polished tourist experience.

The hamlet centres around a traditional working landscape with open countryside stretching in all directions. You'll find good walking routes departing from here, with paths leading through rolling fields towards nearby Northleach, a proper market town just a couple of miles away where you can grab lunch or visit the excellent Cotswold Wildlife Park.

The stone buildings here date back several centuries and reflect the local building traditions perfectly, though Aylworth itself doesn't have major specific attractions. Its real value is as a quiet place to stay or visit when you want to experience the Cotswolds without the crowds that gather in more famous villages. The location works well for accessing Cheltenham's cultural offerings to the north or exploring the quieter western reaches of the Cotswolds towards the Forest of Dean.

It's the sort of place locals know well but most visitors never discover, which is precisely why it appeals if you prefer peaceful countryside over busy tourist hotspots.
