This small village sits in the heart of the Cotswolds, about 18 miles east of Gloucester, surrounded by the rolling countryside that defines this region.

You'll walk down quiet lanes lined with traditional stone cottages here, with views across open fields stretching toward the horizon.

The main reason to visit is the Neolithic long barrow just outside the village, a genuine archaeological highlight dating back around 5,000 years. This burial mound is one of the area's most significant prehistoric monuments, offering a real tangible connection to Britain's ancient past. It's easily accessible and worth a short walk to explore.

The village itself is small and unspoiled, making it an ideal base if you want to escape the busier Cotswolds towns while still having access to good walking country. The surrounding landscape is excellent for rambling, with footpaths connecting to nearby settlements and offering different perspectives across the valleys. You get a genuine sense here of the Cotswolds as working farmland rather than purely a tourist destination.

If you need amenities, shops, or restaurants, Cheltenham lies about 12 miles to the northwest, while Bourton-on-the-Water and other popular villages are within easy reach. This is the kind of place to visit when you're after peaceful countryside time combined with a bit of local history without the crowds.
