Guiting Power sits in a quiet valley carved by a tributary of the River Windrush, positioned conveniently between Cheltenham and Stow-on-the-Wold.

With just under 300 residents, it's genuinely peaceful—the kind of place where you'll hear birdsong more than traffic.

The village spreads across gentle slopes, which gives nice views across the surrounding countryside. St Michael's Church is the focal point, a solid medieval structure worth a visit for its architecture and the sense of continuity it provides to this long-settled landscape. The church sits slightly lower than the main village, so there's a pleasant walk down to it.

What makes this village appealing is its ordinariness in the best sense. There's no major attraction drawing coach loads of tourists, which means you get to experience how these villages actually function. You'll find a couple of local amenities and some lovely walks along the valley and through the surrounding farmland. The stone cottages and farm buildings are typical Cotswold vernacular, built from the local limestone that gives the region its distinctive character.

It's ideal for walkers wanting to explore quieter parts of the Cotswolds without the crowds you'd encounter in bigger villages. The location also makes it a good base for exploring the wider area—Stow and Cheltenham are both easily reached for a day out.
