Evesham sits in the wide bend of the River Avon, at the heart of the Vale that shares its name, and it makes an easy base for a day out or a longer stay. Within a couple of miles of the town centre you'll find around 65 places to eat and drink, 29 shops, 14 things to visit, ten places to stay and a handful of services and activities, which is a good deal for a town of this size. It's a working market town rather than a picture-postcard village, with orchards and market gardens on the doorstep and the Cotswold escarpment rising to the east.

A good few hours might start with coffee at Rivers Cafe, then a wander through Abbey park, where the bell tower stands between the two parish churches and the riverside paths lead away from the shops. Head out to the Wetland Garden for birdlife and quieter walking, then call at Hampton Farm Shop for local fruit and veg on your way back.
