This 14th-century building once served as the almonry for Evesham Abbey, where charitable aid was distributed to those in need.
Today it functions as a proper local museum, run by the town council since 1957, and does an excellent job of revealing how this market town evolved across the centuries. The displays explore local history and the Vale of Evesham through artifacts and exhibits spanning from medieval times right up to the modern era. Simply being inside the building gives you a tangible connection to Evesham's past.
It's a worthwhile stop if you're already exploring Evesham—whether you're wandering the town centre, walking along the riverside, or visiting other historic landmarks like the abbey remains. The staff genuinely know their stuff and can recommend other places worth seeing nearby. You can easily spend an hour or two here, which makes it ideal for a rainy afternoon or as a way to understand the town's story before you set off to explore further. The admission is very affordable and the location right in the town centre means it fits naturally into a broader visit to the area.
