This striking sandstone tower is the last remaining structure from what was once one of medieval Europe's most influential monasteries.

Built during the 14th century as the bell tower for Evesham Abbey, it represents a remarkable feat of medieval engineering and survived the dissolution of the complex in the 1540s when virtually everything else disappeared. The tower itself is impressively intact, with decorative stonework and mullioned windows that hint at the abbey's former importance.

You can go inside and climb the stairs to reach viewing levels offering views across Evesham and out toward the Vale of Evesham beyond. The tower sits within a peaceful garden in the town centre, making it straightforward to visit alongside other attractions. The River Avon winds around Evesham, providing pleasant walking routes through the area, though the town does face occasional flooding issues.

Evesham is worth exploring in its own right. Positioned conveniently between Cheltenham, Worcester, and Stratford-upon-Avon, it works well as a base for discovering the wider region. The town has developed around its agricultural roots in this fertile valley, and you'll find a decent range of independent shops and cafes throughout the centre. The Bell Tower offers a tangible connection to the medieval period, when this location held genuine significance as a centre of religious and political power across England.
