This small hamlet sits within Hailey parish, about two miles north of Witney in Oxfordshire.

It's the kind of place that rewards visitors who want to step back from the busier villages and experience the area's quieter side.

Field Assarts itself is deliberately low-key—there are no major attractions or shops here, and that's genuinely part of its appeal. The hamlet sits within countryside that stretches from the River Windrush northwards towards Ramsden, offering genuine rural character. Walking is the main draw, with quiet lanes connecting the various neighbourhoods of Hailey parish: Middleton, Poffley End, and Delly End. If you're interested in how the area developed, the parish has Saxon origins, and you'll spot several historic farmhouses dotted throughout the landscape.

Most people use Field Assarts as a base for exploring the surrounding countryside rather than stopping here specifically. There are good walks to nearby Wilcote, which has a notable church, and down into the Windrush valley. Witney is just two miles south if you need shops, pubs, or other services, while Charlbury and Ramsden are also accessible.

This location works best if you value rural quietness and aren't looking for commercial attractions. It's one of those places where you really notice the changing seasons and understand what draws people to the Cotswolds in the first place.
