Fordwells is a small hamlet where you can experience the quieter side of the Cotswolds, away from the main tourist routes.

The settlement consists of traditional stone cottages typical of the region, surrounded by gentle rolling countryside that invites exploration. There's nothing monumental to see here, which is rather the point – this is a place designed for slowing down, wandering the quiet lanes, and absorbing the landscape without crowds. The local architecture reflects centuries of agricultural life, and you can walk through fields and woodlands that have shaped the area for generations.

If you want a peaceful base for longer countryside walks, Fordwells works well. You can also use it as a starting point to visit nearby market towns. Burford is a short drive away and worth the trip for its historic high street. Witney, a larger town with proper shops and restaurants, is equally accessible if you need more amenities. Chipping Norton, with its own distinct character, is also close by. So while Fordwells itself offers tranquility and a chance to appreciate the landscape without distraction, you're never far from the busier Cotswold towns if you want a change of pace.
