Ozleworth is a small settlement, and that is rather the point of coming here. There is no high street to work your way along, no queue for a table; instead you get quiet lanes, wide views and the sense of being on the edge of the Cotswolds rather than in the middle of its busier corners. Within roughly two miles you'll find five places to visit, two activity spots, a shop, and one place to eat and drink, which is enough to shape a half day without ever feeling rushed.

A good few hours might begin with a stretch of the Wotton-under-Edge Cotswold Gateway Route 1, which gives you the lie of the land and a proper sense of the escarpment underfoot. From there it's a short hop to Coombe Alpacas, an easy and rather cheerful stop if you have children in tow, and then on to The Lavender Garden if you want to take something home. Golfers can swap all of that for a round at Cotswold Edge Golf Club, and history-minded walkers should make time for Blackquarries Hill Long Barrow before heading back.
