A quiet countryside hamlet sits west of the A46, just a couple of miles north of Leighterton and south of Kingscote.

There's not much activity here, and that's very much the appeal. Lasborough is one of those places where you can sense centuries of history layered into the landscape.

The settlement has deep roots. Romans passed through and left behind villa remains, while an old Roman road connecting Bath to Chavenage Green ran across the land. By 1086, when the Domesday Book was recorded, Lasborough already supported thirteen households. Like many medieval villages, though, it didn't flourish continuously. The population gradually shrank over the centuries, leaving behind the church and the manor house, built in 1319. The Estcourt family owned the manor from the late 1500s onwards, and their influence shaped the local character for generations.

This is a worthwhile stop if you're planning a broader Cotswolds walk. The surrounding countryside rolls gently, making it ideal for stretching your legs away from the busier honey-stone villages that draw larger crowds. Tetbury, about five miles east, serves as your nearest town for shops and services. Lasborough rewards a slow wander and genuine curiosity about the places and people who came before, making it perfect if you're the kind of visitor who enjoys discovering what lies beneath the surface.
