Leighterton is a small village in the rolling hills of southern Gloucestershire, about four miles west of Tetbury.

It sits at 175 metres above sea level, offering good views across the countryside and making it a peaceful place to stop if you're exploring the quieter parts of the Cotswolds.

The main draw here is St Andrew's Church, which dates back to the 13th century and has retained much of its medieval character. The porch is from the 14th century, and the building shows the careful restoration work carried out in the 1870s. Whether you're looking at the exterior or stepping inside, you'll see genuine rural ecclesiastical architecture at its best, and the churchyard itself is worth exploring. The church has an interesting past too—it was once under the patronage of significant religious institutions including Walsingham Priory and Gloucester Abbey, before eventually passing to local landowners.

Beyond the church, Leighterton is a working village rather than a tourist hub, so you won't find much in the way of accommodation or facilities here. It's best visited as part of a wider exploration of the area around Tetbury, which has considerably more amenities and other attractions. The surrounding countryside is excellent for walking, and the village's location means you're well within reach of larger Cotswolds towns if you need shops, restaurants, or more substantial accommodation options.
