around Nympsfield

Nympsfield sits high on the western edge of the Cotswolds, close enough to the escarpment that the land drops away towards the Severn within a short walk of the village. It's a small place, and that's rather the point: you come here for the walking, the long views and the quiet lanes rather than for shops and crowds. Within a couple of miles you'll find eight places worth visiting, eight spots to eat and drink, two places to stay, somewhere to fill an afternoon with an activity, and a useful local service or two — enough to keep a day going without ever feeling busy.

A good few hours might start at Coaley Peak, where the picnic site opens onto that wide view across the Vale, then drop into the wooded valley at Woodchester Park for a circuit past the lakes and the unfinished mansion, with the Woodchester Mansion Café waiting at the end of it. If you'd rather stay level, Tinkley Gate and its café make an easy stop on the Nympsfield side, and Prema Arts Cafe is worth timing your visit around.
