This small hamlet sits within the parish of Nympsfield, about four miles southwest of Stroud in Gloucestershire.
It's really a quiet corner of the Cotswolds rather than a destination in itself, but that's exactly what makes it appealing if you're after genuine rural life without the crowds.
Cockadilly is essentially a scatter of stone cottages and farms across rolling countryside. There's no village center or high street, but honestly that's not the point. The real draw here is the landscape surrounding it. This is walking country proper, with footpaths connecting to Nympsfield village and weaving through the surrounding hills and woodlands. The hamlet sits on the edge of the Cotswold escarpment, so you'll find some lovely views across the valleys if you head up to higher ground.
The place has been rooted in this agricultural region for centuries, though there's not much in the way of heritage sites to visit locally. For practical needs like shops, cafes, and restaurants, you'll head to nearby Nympsfield village or into Stroud, a proper market town just a few miles away. Cockadilly works best as a peaceful base for exploring the wider Cotswolds on foot rather than as somewhere you'd spend hours sightseeing. Come here if you want genuine countryside quiet and space to walk, not tourist attractions.
