Westcroft Cottage provides a comfortable base for exploring the heart of the Cotswolds from Selsley, a small village that's genuinely well-positioned for discovering the region.
You'll have plenty to do without traveling far, which makes this an ideal spot if you prefer a slower pace.
Selsley Common is practically on your doorstep and offers excellent walking with views sweeping across the Severn Vale toward the Malvern Hills. The sunset from here rewards a timed visit. The village itself deserves your attention, particularly All Saints' Church. This is an important Arts and Crafts building, featuring stained glass windows by William Morris and other significant artists from that movement. It's exactly the sort of place that makes a stay feel rewarding.
From here you're well-placed to meander through nearby valleys and drop in on other Cotswolds villages whenever the mood takes you. Stroud, just a short drive away, serves as the market town for the area and gives you access to more amenities when you want them. The Saturday Farmers' Market there has a strong following, and you'll find independent shops stocked with local produce. It's lively enough to feel genuine without being overwhelming, which makes the whole area well-suited to a genuinely restful stay.
