This expanse of open grassland delivers genuine panoramic views stretching across the Stroud Golden Valley and out towards the Severn Vale beyond.
It's an excellent place to walk at whatever pace suits you, from a proper stride to a leisurely amble through fresh air. On windy days you'll spot families with kites, and dog walkers make good use of the space too. As a traditional common, it's been grazed and used by the public for hundreds of years, and that long history of shared access has really shaped how the Cotswold landscape looks around here today. The views are genuinely impressive, particularly as the sun sets, with countryside rolling away in every direction. You can reach it easily from South Woodchester village, and Stroud market town is only a short drive away if you fancy a coffee or a browse through the independent shops there afterwards. Nailsworth is similarly close by with its own clutch of local businesses and character, so this works well as a stopping point during a broader exploration of the valley.
