Westonbirt is a small place with a great deal packed into a short radius. Within about two miles you'll find close to a hundred listings under services, alongside four places to eat and drink, three to visit, two for shopping and one for activities, which tells you something about how the area works: it rewards walking and looking rather than dashing between big attractions. Most of what's here is arboreal, quiet and close at hand, so come prepared to spend time on foot and to notice the details.

A good few hours might begin at the Lodge gates: the way to delight, which sets the tone for everything that follows, before you wander towards Tree Propogation to see how new stock is raised. Give yourself time for the curiosities as well — the Wire netting bush and the Theatre of a visionary both repay a slower pace. When you're ready to sit down, The Smokehouse is the obvious stop for something to eat, and Westonbirt Woodworks is worth a browse afterwards if you want to take home something made from the material the area is built around.
