Northleach is a small Cotswold town that rewards the visitor who slows down. It sits close enough to the main routes across the region to be an easy stop, yet it keeps the unhurried feel of a place where people live and work rather than simply pass through. Within about two miles you'll find seven places worth visiting, five spots to eat and drink, and one place to stay, which makes it a comfortable base for a day out or a pause on a longer journey. Everything sits within easy walking distance, so you can leave the car once and explore on foot.
A good few hours here might begin with coffee and something freshly baked at Lynwood & Co, followed by a wander to The Old Prison, where the café is a sensible place to regroup when the weather turns. From there you can take your time on the streets and lanes before settling in for a proper meal, either at The Sherborne Arms in the centre of town or a short hop out to The Wheatsheaf Inn. If there's cricket or an event on, Northleach Pavilion is worth a look too.
