This small village sits just east of the A424, about four miles south of Stow-on-the-Wold, offering a quieter alternative to the busier market towns in the area.

The place is really two separate settlements connected by open countryside rather than roads. Church Westcote centers around its parish church, while Nether Westcote sits apart with a Methodist chapel and a proper village pub that's worth stopping into if you're in the area.

Walkers will find plenty to interest them here. The Diamond Way long-distance footpath runs through Church Westcote, and the Oxfordshire Way crosses the northern edge of the parish, connecting Wyck Rissington and Bledington. These routes make it straightforward to build Westcote into a longer walking day without feeling like you're straying too far off course.

With just over two hundred residents, this is the real rural Cotswolds. Stone cottages and the church give it genuine character, but you won't find the tourist infrastructure of larger villages. The landscape itself becomes your main focus here rather than facilities, which appeals to people seeking a slower pace. If you're exploring around Burford and Stow-on-the-Wold, Westcote makes a pleasant stop for a walk and refreshment, especially if you're drawn to the quieter corners of the Cotswolds.
