You'll find this small village about four and a half miles southeast of Stow-on-the-Wold, deep in the Cotswold Hills with a population of around 240.
It's genuinely quiet and rural, the kind of place that gives you a real sense of how life actually works in this corner of Oxfordshire.
The village centre has a working church and a handful of stone cottages that show centuries of local building traditions. There's a proper village feel here rather than anything geared toward tourism, which means no cafes or shops, but plenty of genuine peace and excellent walking country instead.
The real draw is the surrounding landscape. You're in prime walking territory with good paths connecting to nearby villages and towns, and Stow-on-the-Wold is close enough for a day trip whenever you want markets, galleries, or restaurants. The parish also includes the hamlets of Bould and Foscot, equally peaceful in their own right.
Historically, the area has been settled for centuries, and that layered history shows in the buildings and field patterns. It works well as a base if you want to experience the Cotswolds without the crowds, though you'll need your own transport since there are no public amenities in the village itself. Come for walks, countryside exploration, and the kind of quiet that's increasingly hard to find.
