Cotswold Galleries occupies a prime spot in Stow-on-the-Wold's market square, so it's hard to miss as you're wandering round this former wool trading town.
What sets it apart is the stock—you're looking at proper local artisan work rather than the usual tourist fare. There's pottery, homewares, art prints of the surrounding countryside, craft pieces, and books about the region. Whether you're after something to take home from your visit or you're gift hunting, there's enough variety here to keep you occupied for a good while without any pressure.
The position is genuinely useful. You're just a few minutes from St. Edward's Church if you've walked up there for the views, and right next to where Stow's well-known antique shops cluster. Once you've finished browsing, you can easily drop into one of the nearby cafes for cream tea, explore the independent boutiques around the square, or use the gallery as a starting point for venturing further. Bourton-on-the-Water and Moreton-in-Marsh are both short drives away if you're planning to make a proper loop of it. The shop has absorbed some of what makes Stow itself interesting—a sense of the town's history combined with the work of people living and creating here now.
