Tubney is a small place, more a scatter of houses and woodland along the road than a village with a centre, and that's rather the point. What you get here is the quieter edge of the Cotswolds' eastern reach, where the countryside is worked rather than staged, and where a short drive in any direction turns up rather more than the map suggests. Within easy reach you'll find places to visit, activities, shops, somewhere to eat and drink, and useful services, enough to fill a day without ever feeling that you're queueing for it.

A good few hours might begin at Millets Farm Centre, which is the practical hub of the area for food, produce and a sit-down, and works equally well as a first stop or a last one. From there, Phoebe Woods gives you somewhere to walk off lunch under the trees, and if you're the sort who plans a day around a round of golf, Frilford Heath Golf Course is close enough to build everything else around. Gardeners should allow time for Appleton Nursery or Webb's Garden Centre, both of which reward a slow browse.
