in Melksham

Melksham is a working Wiltshire town rather than a showpiece one, and that is much of its appeal. Within about two miles you'll find places to eat and drink, stay, visit and shop, along with useful services and activity venues, which makes it a practical base as much as a destination in its own right. If you're travelling through this corner of the county, or staying nearby for a few nights, it's the sort of town where you can sort out lunch, a bed and a bit of a wander without much planning, and where the choice leans towards familiar, straightforward places doing what they do well.

A good few hours here might start with a look at Melksham United Church, then a coffee or a proper sit-down meal at Newmans or The Water Meadow, both easy walking distance from the centre. If you'd rather keep it simple, Lee's Fish and Chips and Ocean Fish & Chips both do a reliable takeaway, and The Foresters Arms is worth knowing about for a pint and a slower end to the afternoon.
