This small hamlet offers a genuine escape from the busier parts of the Cotswolds, comprising just a scattered collection of traditional stone buildings set among open countryside.

There's no village centre or major attractions here, which is very much the point. What draws people is the chance to walk unhurried along quiet lanes, taking in the honey-coloured stone architecture and the genuine rural calm. It's the sort of place where you can actually hear yourself think and experience the landscape at a slower pace.

That said, you're well positioned for exploring further when you want to. Lacock, a historic village with its impressive Abbey and largely unchanged medieval character, is a short drive away. Corsham, a proper market town with a significant stately home and independent shops, is equally close by. If you need more substantial facilities or rail connections, Chippenham is within easy reach. The hamlet works particularly well as a base for getting to know the Wiltshire side of the Cotswolds—the quieter, less touristy stretch that gives you a real sense of how people actually live in this part of England rather than how it's been packaged for visitors.
