Nova is a contemporary art gallery located in Burford, a market town that flourished during the medieval wool trade.
The gallery features work by British artists and creators drawing inspiration from the surrounding Cotswold landscapes, with pieces spanning painting, sculpture, ceramics, and various other mediums. It's a good place to browse distinctive work currently on display or to watch artists at work, and you'll find plenty of interesting things to take home if something catches your eye.
Burford itself is well worth exploring beyond the gallery walls. The High Street slopes gently down towards the River Windrush, lined with independent shops, antique dealers, and tea rooms that reflect the town's enduring character. St John the Baptist, the medieval parish church, is genuinely worth a visit if you have time to step inside and see the architecture that speaks to centuries of prosperity. The whole town carries that sense of historical wealth in its buildings and layout.
Burford works particularly well as a base for exploring the wider region. Bibury is very close by, and you can easily venture into villages along the Evenlode valley or head out to other parts of the Cotswolds from here. Whether you've come specifically for Nova or you're stopping by while moving around the area, spending time wandering through Burford rewards the effort.
