The Golden Pheasant Inn is an 18th-century Cotswold stone inn on Burford's High Street, about 100 metres from the Tolsey Museum.
It works as a traditional pub, a restaurant and a small hotel all in one, with comfortable public rooms downstairs and 18 individually designed bedrooms above.
The kitchen serves hearty, freshly prepared dishes, and the inn makes a point of where its ingredients come from: meat and game raised nearby, vegetables from Cricklade, and seafood landed at Brixham and on the Cornish coast. The restaurant is family-friendly, and the menu has vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options, so it suits mixed groups. Tables can be booked online.
Burford sits just off the A40, which makes the inn an easy stop for drivers passing through as well as a base for walkers and weekend visitors who want to explore the Cotswolds at a slower pace. You can walk out of the door straight into the town's independent shops, and Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens is about 4 km to the south.
