Cocklemore Brook

in Bowden Hill

Illustration — photo coming soon

Cocklemore Brook nature reserve offers a genuine escape into quiet natural surroundings, centered around the brook itself where you can walk along the water's edge and listen to the gentle flow of the stream mixed with bird calls.

The paths wind through the varied terrain of Bowden Hill, each route giving you different perspectives on the landscape around you.

This is a working conservation area focused on protecting local wildlife and plant life rather than providing facilities or attractions. It's somewhere to bring binoculars if you're into birdwatching, or simply find a bench to sit quietly and take in what's around you. The reserve itself doesn't have grand historical structures, though the wider Wiltshire area is rich with history and the site sits close to the Cotswolds edge.

Once you've finished here, Lacock village is a short drive away and worth visiting for its abbey and well-known status as a filming location. If you need refreshments or more substantial amenities, Melksham and Chippenham are also nearby and give you a sense of what else the area has to offer.
