Longborough sits in the quiet farmland north of Stow-on-the-Wold, a village of honey-coloured stone that rewards visitors who like their days unhurried. It isn't a place built around crowds or ticketed attractions, and that's rather the point. Within about two miles you'll find five places to eat and drink, two places to stay, a shop, a couple of useful services, somewhere to visit and something active to do — enough to fill a day without ever feeling you're queueing for it. The lanes around the village are good for walking and easy driving, with the Fosse Way close at hand and open views in most directions.

A good few hours here might begin with coffee and something warm at Longborough Village Cafe, then a wander through the village before lunch at the Coach & Horses. From there it's a short hop to the Cotswold Food Store & Café, where you can pick up provisions for later or simply sit a while longer. Add a browse around Fosseway Garden Centre, and if you're interested in the area's past, the Battle of Stow 1646 is nearby and worth building into your route.
