Lassington sits in the quiet, low-lying country west of Gloucester, where lanes thread between farmland, orchards and pockets of ancient woodland. It isn't a village that announces itself — there's no high street, no cluster of tea rooms — and that's rather the point. What you'll find instead is a scattering of places within a couple of miles of each other: four spots to eat and drink, four worth visiting, a pair of options if you'd rather be doing something, plus a shop and a useful local service. It suits anyone who likes their day out unhurried, and it works particularly well as a starting point for walking, with the Severn Vale opening up to the west and the Malverns visible on a clear morning.

A good few hours might begin on the Three Choirs Way, which passes through on its long route from Gloucester to Kilcot, before you detour to see Saint Oswald's Tower and the grounds around Lassington Court.
