around Twigworth

Twigworth sits just north of Gloucester on the flat land between the city and the Severn Vale, with the Cotswold escarpment rising away to the east. It's a small place rather than a destination in itself, and that's part of the appeal: you'll find around ten places to eat and drink within a couple of miles, along with four places to visit, four places to stay, two shops, two activity providers and a local service, all within easy reach of the A38. It works well as a base if you want quiet nights and quick access to Gloucester, the Severn crossings and the hills beyond, and it suits anyone travelling with a caravan, a tent or a dog.

For a few unhurried hours, start at Wallsworth Hall, the Georgian house on the edge of the village, and give yourself time at Nature in Art, where the shop is worth browsing properly. Twigworth Court adds another stop close by. Break for lunch or an early evening meal at The Bullfinch, then call in at Norton Garden Centre before heading back.
