It's flat, workaday countryside on the edge of Cheltenham, and much of the appeal lies in how easily you can move between a quiet lane, a decent lunch and a bed for the night without covering much ground.

A good few hours here might begin on two wheels, following the Gloucestershire Cycle Spine at whatever pace suits you, then turning off to look at Hayden Knoll Gatehouse Lodge before stopping somewhere nearby for a long lunch.
