Starting just outside Gloucester, this walking route heads west towards Kilcot and takes you through some genuinely quiet countryside.
You'll pass through quieter villages like Lassington, moving across open fields with patches of woodland, where gentle ups and downs gradually reveal views across to where the Cotswolds edge meets the Severn Vale. It's the kind of walk where you get a real sense of the agricultural character of the region without too many crowds.
The stretch you're walking is part of the Three Choirs Way, a longer path that connects three historic cathedral cities—Gloucester, Hereford, and Worcester. The route takes its name from an ancient music festival that's been held between these three cities for centuries. While this particular section focuses more on the natural landscape than cultural landmarks, you're still walking a path with real historical depth woven through it.
The walk itself is fairly manageable in terms of difficulty, though it's worth knowing you'll need to arrange transport from Kilcot at the end, or plan a return route using other local footpaths if you prefer a loop. Gloucester is conveniently close by if you need supplies or services before heading out, and Newent lies further west if you want to explore more of the surrounding area once you're done.
