Chadlington sits in the countryside west of Chipping Norton, and it's the kind of village you come to when you want the quieter side of the Cotswolds rather than the coach-park version. Within about two miles you'll find five places to eat and drink, five places worth visiting, a couple of useful services and somewhere to stay, which is enough to fill a day without ever feeling rushed. It works well as a base if you're exploring this corner of Oxfordshire, and just as well as a half-day detour if you're passing through on your way somewhere else.
A good few hours here might start with coffee and something from the counter at Café de la Post, followed by a wander and a look at what's on the shelves at Chadlington Quality Foods, which is handy if you're putting together a picnic. Diddly Squat Farm Shop draws plenty of visitors to the area, so it's worth timing your arrival to avoid the busiest stretch of the afternoon. Round things off with a drink and a proper meal at The Tite Inn, then head into Chipping Norton if you've still got time.
