around Buckland

Buckland is a small place, and that's rather the point. Within a couple of miles of the village you'll find only a handful of places to eat and drink, a couple of places to stay, somewhere to sort out the practicalities, and a short list of things to do — which means you can take in most of it in a morning and an afternoon without ever feeling hurried. It suits walkers, anglers and anyone who'd rather spend a day in one square of countryside than tick off half a county. Come with no fixed plan and you'll still find the day fills itself.

A good few hours might begin on the Monarch's Way, following the path out of the village and letting the route decide how far you go. If you'd rather sit still, the Buckland fishing pegs and Taylor's Fishery, home to Tadpole AC, give you somewhere to settle in with a rod for the better part of a day. Buckland House is worth working into the walk, and The Lamb is the natural place to end up afterwards. Should you decide to stay on, Mollie's is close at hand.
