Yanworth is a small village of around 300 people sitting in the rolling countryside southeast of Cheltenham, where rural life carries on with minimal fuss.

It works best as part of a wider Cotswolds exploration rather than as a standalone destination, which is actually its greatest strength if you're trying to avoid the crowds that descend on more famous spots.

The real reason to visit is St Michael's Church, standing somewhat apart from the village itself and dating back to around 1200. This is genuine medieval architecture with plenty of character—the kind of place where you can actually study the building without being swept along in a queue. Spend some quiet time here if you're interested in how these structures developed over centuries and you'll get a real sense of what you're looking at.

Much of the village falls within the Stowell Park estate, which gives the place a distinctly working, private character. There's no village centre with shops or cafés, so come prepared or head to nearby Northleach or Cheltenham for food and supplies. The surrounding lanes offer excellent walking, and because the Cotswold Water Park is close by, you could easily combine a visit here with water activities if that appeals. It's a genuinely useful base for exploring this quieter corner of the region without encountering the visitor volumes you'd find in the more famous villages.
