West Yatton is a small hamlet within Yatton Keynell parish, sitting in the rolling countryside between Chippenham and the Gloucestershire border.

You'll find traditional stone cottages scattered across green fields here, connected by quiet country lanes rather than any kind of commercial centre.

The hamlet is purely residential, but it makes an excellent base for exploring the wider area. You're well positioned for walks along the Bybrook River, which runs along the parish boundary and offers pleasant countryside rambling through open agricultural landscape. The whole parish is designated as green belt, which means it's protected from development and preserves that genuine rural character.

If you're staying here, Castle Combe is worth the short drive—it's one of the region's most visited spots with a medieval high street and various attractions. Chippenham, about four miles away, offers more substantial facilities including shops, restaurants and supermarkets if you need anything practical.

This area appeals to visitors seeking peace and quiet rather than tourist attractions and activities. There's a working countryside feel to it, without much commercial infrastructure geared toward visitors. That makes it ideal if you want to experience rural Cotswolds life and use the hamlet as a base for exploring further afield.
