This 102-mile national trail runs along the dramatic edge of the Cotswold Hills, giving walkers access to some genuinely impressive views across the region.

The route received its official National Trail status in 2007, and since then new sections have been added to give people more flexibility in how they explore it. You can walk the entire distance if you're up for it, or simply enjoy a stretch near Long Dean without committing to the full journey. Either way, you'll pass through rolling countryside and historic villages while taking in expansive views across the Cotswolds and the landscape beyond. The trail works equally well as a straightforward day walk or as part of a longer multi-day trip, depending on what appeals to you. There's plenty to discover about the character of the area as you go, whether you're interested in the villages themselves, the farming landscape, or simply the experience of being outdoors in this part of England. The accessibility improvements made since it became a National Trail mean there are various entry points and sections to suit different abilities and time scales.
