Tiddley Wink: Wiltshire. This strangely named village (reminding me of the game), of which almost all is visible in the photograph, is in the north western section of the square. There is a name-board at the beginning of the village, but it is not marked on the OS Map.

Tiddleywink is a small hamlet where you can experience genuine quiet in the heart of the Cotswolds.

The settlement consists of a cluster of honey-coloured stone houses arranged amongst gentle hills and open fields, maintaining the unspoiled character that comes from centuries of rural life. There aren't major attractions to visit here, but that's rather the point—this is a place to slow down and absorb the peaceful rhythms of the English countryside.

Most visitors spend their time on leisurely walks along the lanes and footpaths, which offer classic Cotswold architecture at every turn and expansive views across the surrounding landscape. The hamlet's history is rooted in farming, like so many settlements in the region, and that agricultural heritage still shapes its identity today.

Tiddleywink works well as either a tranquil base or a quiet counterpoint to busier exploration. You're well positioned for day trips to more substantial destinations. The historic market town of Malmesbury, dominated by its impressive abbey, is just a short drive away, as is the larger town of Chippenham. Castle Combe, one of the region's more well-known villages, is also very close by. This means you can easily combine a restorative spell in this quiet corner with visits to some of the Cotswolds' more celebrated spots.
