The Plough sits at the centre of Kelmscott village and genuinely operates as the community's social hub.
You'll find yourself properly welcomed whether you're a local or just passing through. The kitchen serves straightforward British food that hits the mark after a day spent walking in the countryside, and you can easily pop in just for a drink with a reasonable choice of ales and spirits on offer.
What makes this place worth your time is its proximity to Kelmscott Manor, a short walk away. William Morris, the designer and artist, made his country home there, and it's easy to imagine him taking a pint here during his years in the village. The pub works perfectly as a rest stop if you've been exploring the Manor's gardens and its collections, or if you're walking the Thames Path. Location-wise it's sensible too—Lechlade-on-Thames is right nearby, and you've got straightforward access to larger Cotswold towns like Burford and Faringdon whenever you need other things to do or want to find additional amenities.
