The dining space is airy and comfortable, managing to feel both welcoming and composed without any stuffiness about it. The calm surroundings really do encourage you to take your time over a meal.
The kitchen trades in seasonal cooking with a genuine commitment to local ingredients, serving straightforward, well-executed food that ranges from familiar classics to lighter options. You're clearly looked after here, but there's no fussiness about it. If you want to step outside and enjoy the estate grounds after eating, that's very much an option.
The Calcot Estate location brings a sense of refinement to the whole experience without ever tipping toward pretension. It's an easy base for a longer day out in the area. Tetbury is a short drive away if you want to browse its well-established antique shops and soak up its royal heritage, while Nailsworth, a proper working town with independent retailers and cafes throughout its valley setting, gives you another direction to explore. Either makes a natural companion to time spent here.
