If you're looking to stretch your legs around Sherborne, the South Watermeadows Walk offers a really pleasant way to explore the Sherborne Park Estate.
Known locally as the Pink Trail, it takes you through traditional water meadows—a historically important feature of the landscape that once played a crucial role in farming here. The River Windrush runs alongside the path, creating a gentle focal point as you make your way through the grounds.
This is a working National Trust landscape, so you're walking through countryside that's been actively managed for centuries. The estate supports a good variety of wildlife, and you've got a decent chance of spotting resident deer if you venture out early or late in the day. The mature trees scattered across the grounds add to the sense of calm, and the whole experience gives you a real feel for how the land has been shaped by generations of stewardship. The Dutton family's long ownership of the estate left its mark on the wider landscape, even if there's no grand house right along this particular route.
It's a moderately easy walk with clear marking, so you won't struggle with navigation. Northleach is just a short drive away if you want to grab something to eat before or after, while Bourton-on-the-Water and Cirencester are also nearby for those wanting a larger town to explore.
