You'll find this small hamlet spread across the south bank of the River Windrush, about three miles west of Burford, in a quiet corner of Gloucestershire.
There's no village center to speak of—just a handful of houses grouped together—which is exactly what makes it appealing if you're looking for somewhere peaceful to spend an hour or two.
The Church of St Peter is the main reason to stop and explore. Dating from the late 12th century and Grade I listed, it's worth visiting for its genuine medieval character and architecture. The riverside setting adds to the atmosphere considerably. You'll also notice the Fox Inn, a Grade II listed building right by the water that serves as a proper country pub where you can settle in for a drink or meal.
But honestly, the real draw is the walk itself. The Windrush is a gentle, unassuming river, and this stretch remains quiet enough that you'll often have the banks almost entirely to yourself. The walk is lovely and unhurried—perfect if you just want to clear your head without any serious exertion.
Because it's only three miles from Burford, you can easily combine a riverside stroll here with time exploring that bustling market town, or use it as a pleasant stopping point on a longer walk following the river through the surrounding countryside.
