Linch Hill Vineyard

in Northmoor

This working vineyard sits in the quieter reaches of the Cotswolds near Stanton Harcourt, where you can actually see English winemaking in action across the sloping fields.

The vines grow in neat rows, and most visits include a guided tour where someone explains which varieties are planted and walks you through how the fruit becomes wine. The real point of coming is tasting what they've produced on site—wines you probably won't find sitting on supermarket shelves back home.

It makes a genuinely different sort of Cotswolds outing. Rather than viewing how people lived centuries ago, you're watching the land being used right now, and there's something satisfying about seeing actual agricultural work happening rather than anything carefully preserved for visitors. The working aspect feels real.

Getting here is straightforward. Stanton Harcourt is close by, and Witney, a functioning market town with decent shops and places to eat, is just a short drive away if you need a proper meal afterward. Oxford isn't far either if you want to extend your day. The vineyard works well as a break when you're moving around the region and want relief from the endless rotation of churches and period homes. It's informal, genuinely interesting, and you'll have something tangible to take away with you.
