The grounds are spacious and genuinely peaceful, offering straightforward facilities for tents and caravans without the distraction of entertainment programs or activities. If you're after quiet and room to spread out, you'll find exactly that here.
Kempsford village itself rewards a walk from your pitch. It's a settlement with considerable historical significance, particularly around St Mary the Virgin Church, which has medieval links to John of Gaunt. The River Thames runs nearby, and you can follow its banks eastward toward Lechlade on an easy, flat walk. This part of the Cotswolds is notably flatter than much of the region, which makes it excellent for cycling and casual exploration on foot.
For shops and restaurants, Fairford is a short drive away and works as the local market town, with an impressive church of its own, independent shops, and several good pubs. Continue along the river and you'll reach Lechlade, a proper riverside settlement with cafes and boat trips available. For larger-scale shopping and Roman heritage sites, Cirencester is also easily accessible.
This works well as a summer base if you want genuine downtime at your pitch combined with straightforward access to the character, history, and river landscape of the surrounding villages.
